hi, my friend has just got an xbox and wants to put it on the net via a wireless xbox adapter. now he thinks you have to have this xbox live "browser" sort of thing to be able to access web pages, but i have heard it is 40 per year.

is this true?
do you need it to access thing like google etc or can you not go on these sort of sites with it?

any help appreciated!:-)

You cannot browse the internet with an xbox. You do have to pay 40 per year to play games on X-box Live though. This is all setup when you first connect it to xbox live.
You cannot access web sites using an xbox or 360.

I have heard of people formatting their xbox hard drives and installing other operating systems (wsuch as windows ) and usign the hardware effectively as a pc but it must surely be a complicated process and yo uwouldn't still be able to play your xbox games.
