i have copied family video onto dvd on my recorder and want to edit it in a movie maker application but nero movie maker wont allow me to as it it patent licenced - is there any way i can edit my dvds

You can download a 14 day trial of "VideoRedo Plus" which will allow you to edit the movie.

Then use Nero to burn a dvd movie.
If you have windows XP then use te inbuilt Movie maker. I have used it for holiday videos and thought it worked great. You can add in titles, background music, credits at the end and lots more. You can basically make any video quite cool. Well worth a look i would say.
The built in movie maker is a bit naff, i suggest you download the software, even Nero is low end but certaily better than you free one with your PC.
