You can buy scanners that have attachments for 35mm slides

Here is one as an example (I only put it here as an example, I have no idea if it is any good or not)

So try searching for a scanner that also includes the ability to scan in 35mm slides.
I have an "Epson Perfection 2480 Photo" scanner which has an attachment for slides, but I have to say I found the results very disappointing! It might be better to take them to a photographic shop and get them to do it.
I use a "CanoScan 4200F" and am quite pleased with the results. You can scan up to 4 slides at a time, and it comes with very good software for "manipulating" your scanned slides: "ArcSoft Photo Studio".
I can highly recommend the Nikon Coolscan film scanners!
