Assuming you have Windows XP - you will have Windows Media Player.

Open Media Player, click Rip and you will be instructed to insert cd.

It will be easy from there. Now you have copies on your hard drive.

In Windows Media Player again, click 'burn' - drag the tracks to the right hand column and follow the instructions.

sorry ethel ive made a mistake they arnt cds they are dvds and windows media wont rip them

thanks
Thats a whole different kettle of fish.

You need several pieces of software as no doubt the DVD's will be "copy protected". One that will decrypt it and will help you burn it to your Hardrive. Then you need some software to shrink the contents to fit on a shop bought disk. Then you'll need to burn the image onto a disk. The software is out there - just google it and you will find it.
As no-one has mentioned it yet, whilst easy enough to do, copying CDs and DVDs is illegal.
