mac book good enough for basic editing

hi i am thinking of getting a mac and wanted to know if a 1gb 2.ogz duo core mac book was gonna be good enough to do photos and the occasion home video edit.. some peeps are saying i need a pro book but ma not sure i need it to be that powerful. i am normally a pc user and know that you need a basic of 128 graphics card but 256 is better however on a mac book it is 64...are mac grpahic cards rated differently..cos a 64 in a pc would be unheard of really..thanks

The odd piece of editing, with iMovie, will be fine.

If you want to start using Final Cut Pro or anything else of that nature, you'll need the MacBook Pro.

So, you'll be fine with a Macbook.

hhhmm well I would prefer to use final cut pro as I use premiere on my pc and think imovie will not do extra stuff like scrolling credits..slow mo..etc etc... so will it not cope with it...thanks

No, it won't cope. If you go to the Final Cut Pro website, it says this:

"An AGP or PCI Express Quartz Extreme graphics card (Final Cut Studio is not compatible with integrated Intel graphics processors)"

(The Macbook has an integrated Intel graphics system.)
