Ipod Battery Help

My ipod video 30gig battery runs out so fast. I can only get less then 2 hours from it. How hard is it to replace the battery. Will it mess my ipod up if i try to replace it. Is it hard to open the ipod video? Any help on this would be great. Also where can I buy a new battery from. Maybe there are better batterys out there which will be even better then the one apple put into ipods.

Hi there liquid, I had the same prob with my ipod a few months ago the battery would only last less than an hour, I bought a brand new one with the little tool to open the pod and think it was around �12 for the 2, it was a little hard to get the case of but once you do it is quite straightforward to replace the battery and the case goes back on a lot easier than it come of.
And my ipod is like new now .
Just realised you said you had the ipod video (you lucky lucky person) I peplaiced mine on a poor persons that just played music loll.
But I assume the procedure is the same for the video ones if you go on e bay and find a seller that specalicces in the ipod batts then they will help you out.
Also remember that you will only get 2 hours battery life when watching a video and 15 when listening to music.

those 2 hours are just for music. Dont really use the video feature anymore. I will check out ebay and see how I go
Less than a year old? It'll still be under warranty -- the playtime sounds very short indeed.

Do you just let the music play, and not continually skip tracks? Also, try turning off the backlight (I assume it isn't permanently on?), as well as the sound enhancer/equalizer.

I missed my end of warrenty by 1 month argggggggg. The setting are all ok. I let music just play and back light is not always on just when I use wheel comes on. I always off my ipod after using it. I saw on ebay batteries, some claim to be better then one in ipod. I am not to confident about opening my ipod up as dont want to mess it up.
Photo apple tech support anyway; they may still take it. Just let them know you're unhappy with it. 2hrs is far too short.

Read up on the Sale of Goods Act and write to whoever you bought it from telling them that goods must be "of satisfactory quality" which specifically includes durability. 13 months for something that cost over �200 is not satisfactory and you want them to replace or repair it (you can't demand a replacement if they offer a repair). Whoever sold it to you is responsible, not Apple (unless you bought it from them directly). Don't let them fob you off.

I did exactly the same with Dell when my laptop battery died after 13 months. They tried to fob me off first but replaced it on the second time of asking.
