Make sure the hard disk has not worked loose.

You should be able to easily get at the hard disk, then make sure it is pushed firmly in its socket.
Does anything happen when you turn it on? Screen come on? Any indicator lights? Can you hear the hard-drive spinning?

If there is no 'life', it could be the adapter cable, or if the screen is blank, a faulty inverter. I had to replace mine last year.

As vehelpfulguy says, it could simply be a loose connection to the hard-drive. .

Hi thanks for this i turn it on and it seems to have power to it cos green led is on, but totally dead nothing on screen and no noise of anything kicking in, no fan and no drives of any kind
Give me a clue please
Just check that the screen is totally blank by either looking very closely at it, or shining a torch at it to prove that it is not a problem with the screen. A long shot admittedly...

Is it still under warranty? Even if not, for example a 12 month warranty, you still have rights if that has expired recently.

Also, have you checked the Dell website knowledgebase/FAQ regarding this laptop?
