security certificate

on a regular used site i have over the last two days on logging off ,had the message,certificate expired or not valid,i contacted the site concerned but did not get a satisfactory responce,only that they assured that the site was safe, i have cleared all history and temp files with no result,any ideas worth a try.

The organisation that sipplies them can be a pain and the process of obtaining a new one can be slow, but.... there is no reason why the company you are dealing with shouldn't have sorted it out.
The certificate really just tells you that the person you are dealing with might not be the one you think it is, in other words the certificate they are using doesn't conform to the server it was initially issued to. If you are confident the company is OK then it is fine to carry on using the site.

If the Certificate has expired or is invaild you should assume the site untrust worthy.
There are many reasons why a certificate is not reissued and could be down to security issues.
Carrying on with the site basically underminds the whole security certificate technology. You cant really know for sure if the site is ok?
