Samsung U600 help!

Hello,
basically my mum bought me a new samsung u600 which I received this morning. The thing is I've been sent a phone from the French manufacturer. Therefore it is set up for a French SIM, I've inserted the vodaphone SIM for which my contract should of started with this phone but the phone fails to pick up the network because access is limited.

Any help?
