only sound from one speaker??

I am trying to use my BW speakers through my TV. I am attaching the phono leads (red/white) correctly but for some reason I am only getting sound off one speaker and nothing at all from the other speaker.

Before you say.... All connections are correct and if i play a CD through the speakers sound is perfect through both speakers.

Its just when I connect to TV, can anyone please help???

What am i doing wrong??

Hi v 3 rob 11,
Could it be that your t.v is a mono sound source.
i think that would give you such a problem.

hi fender62/timeout1, i go into menu of TV and under sound i only have 1)mode with options, movie, music, custom, standard. There's nothing on there about mono or stereo?

How can i find out its in mono?
