Pc programmes

I have a friend who does some amazing stuff to her photos! She uses.....

Paint shop pro 9
Animation shop 3
Photoshop elements 4 and 5

Being mega skint, I cannot afford to rush out and buy any programmes but are there any similar that are available as freeware on the net?

One that I quite like as you can do a lot of changes to photos is Vicman photo editor.It is free so give it a try

Google Picassa is fairly good. Not as advanced as paintshop etc, but still a useful tool. But best of al its free.

http://www.gimp.org/ The Gimp is recommended by a lot of folk (and it's free). Not used it myself.

You could also try the Serif site - they offer free downloads of their older software, and have a photo-editor for free.

Is it just photo software, or do you really need animation stuff, btw?

try before you buy!
