My mum has just upgraded to Sky HD and has given me her old SKY+ Box. I already have a basic Sky Digi Box, but do I need to get a Sky engineer out to connect me up to the Sky + box? I understand an extra cable is required for Sky+. Does anyone know how much it will cost?

Yes you need a Sky engineer to do it.

You need a new component on the Dish (a new LNB) and two cables from the dish to the box.

I think they also send you a new Sky card.

Best to phone Sky.
You can do it yourself if :

1. Your Dish LNB has a spare connector
2. You can run a cable from the LNB/Dish to your Sky Plus Box easily.

Once this is done you will need to phone Sky & they will talk you through re-programming your viewing card to work with Sky Plus.

I have done this successfully - Good Luck
