Hi , do you know if there is any reason I can't see , why O2 have not brought the iphone out for us to buy as pay-as-you-go ? xx

Apple have demanded that it's only for contract, and want a cut of the monthly contract revenue.

O2 can only make money on the contract thus by raising the price a bit, which is why the iPhone's contract prices are a bit steep.
Because to make the amount of money that they and Apple want from it they would have to charge over �860, basically the proposed purchase price of (I think) �269 then an 18 month contract at a minimum of �35 per month.
