lost standby

in windows xp i have lost the standby facility,anyone know how i can get it back

not exactly sure what you mean

the settings to say when the machine goes into standby are in control panel | power | power schemes

or ... do you mean start | shutdown | standby?

If you mean the Windows XP Hibernate Option and it is "greyed out" you may have to reinstall your Graphics Driver.
