When was the Internet invented?

Its hard to give a precise date as what is known as the internet evolved. The internet was never really invented, it evolved. Basically what we know as the internet comprises the physical connection and the use of a standard packet switching software, now TCP/IP (which itself didn't sprint up overnight but evolved)). Computers were linked & communicating before TCP/IP.

You could say 1969 when ARPANET connected 4 computers & the first RFC was issued.

You could say 1982 when the them 'Intrenet' was first used, you caould say 1983 when TCP/IP became the standard for communications.
