I have a new phone that is an MP3 player. Sorry for not being very Y2K, but how do I make an MP3 file to play on it? Also, I can record a short piece of music to have as my ring tone (this seems to be really common on phones now). How can I do this? Please help, I am 25 and generally good on a pc but have just never come across MP3 before. Many thanks

You'll need software to convert any CD's you have into mp3 format though a quick Google search will find you loads of programmes to download for free(usually on a 14 day trial). Once you've got your tracks converted there should be instructions with you r phone detailing how to upload them to the phone via a data cable or infra red if your PC has that facility.
A recommendation for a free CD ripper (term for converting CD to mp3) is dbPowerAmp (put www in front and com at the end). I find it extremely easy to use and very quick.
