No - Version 8 will overwrite 7.5. You say you have downloaded it. You will have placed the download onto your computer - now you have to manually install it.
I'd uninstall it - just out of habit ... sir is right - but all scanners are quirky
The problem then is that their job is to defend themselves from any prog that's trying to alter them or the system.
download the new version (you have!)
disconnect machine from internet
uninstall old
reboot
install new
reboot
reconnect internet
You may have a business version of Windows which can't be updated to run the 8. In that case you need to go back to Grisoft and get the 2000 plus SP4 version.
Yes it would Bazile, but it normally uninstalls version 7.5 during the process.
Can`t understand why it hasn`t installed.
I would do as Ac says and uninstall 7.5 then download 8 again.
Make sure it`s the free version you`re downloading and not a trial version.
I usually use file hippo to download from, (just put avg 8 file hippo into google and download latest version.)
Just thought I'd let you guys know I installed successfully AVG version 8 for free this evening and although it took about an hour to do all the ins and outs it is now installed and working, much quicker too.
It also uninstalled the older vesion as it did so.
Just Google in 'free anti virus software' follow links.
I have Vista and I had to go slightly sideways to create the correct links but it did do it.
