I have had a freeview box for a couple of years now and up until last week was getting 30 plus channels with excellent reception. Unfortunately , where I live in Southampton, the signal is being blocked by a ship which is docked on Southampton Water for about 10 days now and doesn,t seem in a hurry to leave! Is there any way I can get my good reception back, other than scuttling the ship? For some reason this only affects the ITV channels, ITV 1,2,3, etc. Thank you.

now thats not a problem you hear often!!

you could try an signal amplifier, but they often don't work (amplified weak bad signals just become strong bad signals!)

the only other way is to get a clear line from your TV aerial to the transmitter, so you either have to scuttle the ship or raise your tv aerial on a bigger pole.
I am intrigued as to how a ship can block a freeview signal.....Denis - I don't mean I don't believe you, I just mean how does it do that ?

Can you complain to the Port Authorities ? Oi, that ship is stopping my itv getting through to me !

I agree juggs, although a ship would easily block a TV signal as it is a fairly major bit of metal to put in front of your aerial! it really would take a fairly unique layout of house/docks for you to get into a ship in front of the TV aerial situation!!

Thanks all. I have been told by someone that the receiver is on the Isle of Wight, and that this particular ship is right on the path to it from my house. Is this possible ?
