Every time my computer is switched on again - The AVG anti virus states that the connection for the update manager has failed .

I have to manually start the update

I've googled the web and it appears that other people out there are experiencing the same problem .
The solutions that have been offered is written in language / terminology , that is over my head .

Can anyone provide me with a fix , in laymans language ?

I was getting this the other day.

I had turned off one component within AVG called the Link Scanner.

Have you done that ?

When I turned it back on the update then began to work.
