Has anyone signed up to the Virgin Fibre Optic broadband available in the UK and what is it like? I have heard that the speed can go up to 20mb - is this true? They say that the speed is not influenced by distance from an exchange.

It's been available for years; it's just standard cable for your TV and phone. They're just advertising it a bit more now.

Some areas can go upto 20mb, and I believe it works very well.

We have a slower service at home, and it works pretty well.

They have been a pretty good ISP, but the current head of the broadband division (or maybe Virgin Media entirely, I forget), is an absolute idiot that wants to add all sorts of restrictions to your broadband service, so this reputation may change.
