Good Broadbrand Package for Grandparents!
6 Answers
Hi, my grandparents want to get on the net and want me to do it for them. I had to explain that they need to pay coz it's not free and explained about modems etc. They still want to do it.
Does anyone know of a cheap good provider?
They don't need anything flash coz they not going to download just surf.
Is there anyway of knowing the top speed they can get considering they are not actually on the net at the moment.
Thanks

if this is a decision not backed by having "had a go"... I'd be tempted to get them to try a modem and something pay as you go like this ...
(I'm not recommending it .... just an example)

I've known a few potential silver surfers who lost interest quite soon - and broadband tends to come with a (long)timed contract.
on the other hand ... I also know others who are never offline

Here's one of the best ADSL availability checkers - like others it tends if anything to be a little pessimistic, which is better than the other way round -

For ISP I'd recommend Plusnet Option 1 at 999. It's only a one month contract, with 2GB allowance, which can be cheaply topped up if necessary - not very likely if they're light users. Their help pages are very comprehensive, and support if needed is very good, based in Sheffield and available via the website, or 0845 and a normal geographic number.
