I have an Epson DX3800 and The paper will only go part way through and then stops. There is a whirring noise but nothin else happens.

Sorry if the description is less than technical but I'm not the most technically minded person on the planet! Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a drive chain / belt / gears worn or stretched. Unless you feel you can take it apart to investigate and adjust (if possible) yourself, be aware that servicing (if you can find someone to do it for you) or parts are likely to be more epensive than a replacement printer. I used to run a small print company but was constantly advising customers about their own colour inkjet printer problems. My adivce for a reliable manufacturer was always Canon.

Thank you for your expertise chrisrob I have had the printer for a while so I am probably due for a new one. I'll check one out on payday.
