Which new mobile phone?

I am hoping to change my mobile phone but am a bit bewildered at the choices available. Does anyone know if there is a site which helps narrow down the choice based on what features I am after in a potential phone?
In fact the only features I need are an email facility and small/compact.

First decide between pay-as-you-go and contract. If you want pay-as-you-go, decide how much you want to spend on a phone, or decide if there are any particular features you need, and work from there.

If you want a contract, go into a place like Phones4U, tell them how much you want to spend per month. They will sign you up on an 18-month contract and give you a small choice of free phones you can get on that contract.

Thanks koster. I should have said that I currently have a contract. I am happy to continue with it because I was going to change to a different provider but my own company have reduced my tariff and offered me pretty much any phone that I want.
That is where the difficult decision starts though!
That is why I was after I site that would make it easier or at least narrow things down for me a bit.
