I want to listen to mp3's that are stored on my home pc at work.

You could use Shoutcast but I think it would be a fixed playlist. http://www.shoutcast.com/ Check it out anyway.
You could try emailing them to yourself
Burn them to CD or DVD then take that to work?
Get a USB Pendrive, and as long as you've got USB 2.0 on both machines they should read fast enough to play straight from that.
try www.andromeda.com stream server. mp3/ogg/wma + lots i got a working version its pretty good, gets around the work firewall/restrictions
