size reduction

can you help....i have a 16 x 20 watercolour
painting on paper that i need to send via email
how can i reduce the size by 50 percent
which will bring it down to 10 x 8...and then use
my A4 scanner to send it

I'll resist the temptation to suggest scissors to reduce its size :)

you have three options that I can think of.

1) try and scan bit's of it at a time and then use some imaging editing software to paste the part scans back together to make a whole pic again.

2) take it to somewhere that does large colour photocopying and get them to reduce it to A4 for you.

3) buy a larger scanner.
Get a reduced colour photocopy done and scan that?

Take a digital photo of the original and reduce it with some image software such as photoshop?

i would suggest scanning it in two halves, then in photoshop you can put them together then resize the whole image to the exact size you want.

if you need any advice on how to do it in photoshop then just shout and will put up instructions
