hope you manage to sing when you awaken in case you dont know the words i shall start you off it goes
i woke me up this morning with the sound of happy songs from the throats of many irishmen 100 hundred thousand strong dont you know that today os march seventeen its the day for the wearing of the green and so on by the way i am scottish but i wish you a happy st patricks day
What part of Ireland are you from?
if you mean me i am totally scottish born and bred however going to a school where all the teachers were irish i learned more irish songs than scottish
happy St Patricks day I too will be celebrating . Its great to have the day off for our national holiday
Night hailthechimp! x
Wish I was in Ireland for it - I'm sure the Guinness can't be any more expensive than the 3.10p my local charges for a pint of the black stuff !!
I was paying 3.20 a pint for it on Sunday... scandalous

Still a shame that most pubs will celebrate St Patricks day yet do fook all on St Georges day
Only because St Paddy was better lookin', Elv !
it's the look and of course the charm of the Irish that leads to all the celebrations. I never celebrate st george day as it is my mums anniversary :-(
roll on tomorrow pub crawl
Or is it Irish flags don`t upset the ethnics?
I think Guiness is over 4 euro per pint now in Southern ireland, so 4 a pint or more.
Not that old chestnut about poor St George's Day, most people in England (I daren't say English or British and open that can of worms) can't be bothered to celebrate, mainly because they don't even know when it is! Their choice, nothing stopping them. I am both but I know which day you have the Craic! Happy St Patricks Day.
depends where you go trish you get best deals in rural areas
Yes zebra..that old chesnut.....the one where you`re not allowed to have St Georges flags, and where a lot of schools don`t celebrate it because the majority of kids aren`t English

Thankfully I live in a place where we do celebrate it and there are no foreigners to upset
Why should anyone get upset if an English person flies the flag of their patron saint on "his" day? Especially if you live in England !!

Nothing wrong with a bit of patriotism as long as it isn't taken to daft extremes.
well there is many a house with an irish flag, banners etc in ireland today. Slainte to the Irish
That`s the problem paraffin, daft extremes are taken,... by councils.... for fear of upsetting the ethnics, not that they give a toss, but it`s the way this country is now
Elvis, where is it you live then with no foreigners?? You need to remember that unfortunately St George's day has somewhat become a symbol for saddo extremists groups to parade around the place acting hard done by, I live in a big city by the way where every year they try to do their own pathetic parade, but thankfully no one is interested.

Nothing wrong with celebrating it whatsoever but its never been forefronted as an occasion in this country, Everyone just seemed to get on the bandwagon as they realised St Patrick's Day is marked.

My colleague always wore a red rose to work on St George's day, no one was up in arms about it but to be fair in an office of around 200 no one else seemed to celebrate and before you say it, it wasn't full of foreigners.

Get a life and enjoy April 23rd!
Yes but I don't think that the ROI is as paranoid about patriotism England seems to be in certain areas.
in recent yeras ROI has had many non nationals join us. However they seem to enjoy the celebrations and parties as much as we do. Perhaps the fact its a bank holiday helps. No matter what your nationality everyone gets the day off to drink and celebrate. Parades are a fun affair and there are lots of carnivals and funfairs plus family days, something for everyone. Aday of fun and of course drinking
