You can use Winamp to listen to these streams. Windows Media Player should work too, though I've not tried it.
If you have Windows Media Player, click on the Radio Tuner button on the left (or click on View, then Go To, then Radio Player) you can search to your heart's content there.
You can do a similar thing with Real Player (click on View, then Radio) but I think you have to pay to use most of their channels.
And like NoGoodBoyo says, if you know the name of the station it's always worth googling for their website.
My wife originates from Montreal, Canada, and listens to Q92.5 FM via the internet. This station has their own player, but a lot of stations you can listen to via your windows media player or real player, etc.
Recently I was in Baffalo NY (USA) and listened to a light rock station. Upon returning to UK, I found the station's website and e-mailed them.. they told me they had plans to broadcast via the net in the future.
