Downloading using BitTorrent

Hi
I downloaded BitTorrent program and am currently using this to download a few moives. I then want to put the movie onto a dvd so i can watch it on my tv. It wont copy to a disc tho, says incorrect format or something? It plays on my pc fine.
any ideas

Sounds like an illegal copy to me.
Fancy coming on a public website announcing that. Some people have no sense.

if you go to any high street video store they will sell you a copy of whatever film you want that is guaranteed to work on your DVD player!

are holier than thou, well get a life fella's millions download copies of films cds and software progs for nothing, dont tell me you haven't done so sometime or other, and yes the producers of these original don't loose out that much. go onto google and get more info on this subject (its not illegal)

Of course it is illegal jacksprat......or should that be jackprat???
It is copyright theft.The companies that produce these films are losing millions of pounds/dollars in revenue every year because of illegally downloaded material.

Sadly some people will never grasp the concept that honest people have to pay more for films and CD's to cover the losses made due to people downloading the stuff illegally.

I often wonder if these people would feel the same about walking into HMV and stealing their DVD's and CD's.
This is more or less what they do when they download these things for free.
Anyone who thinks it isn't illegal to download films from Bit Torrent and similar sites must be a bit mental!

My chum could probably be persuaded that it's ok to do something like that ... so two of us think it's ok .... how about you?

Downloading copyright material is against the law - what jrobinson has asked for (burning a movie onto a DVD) is not necessarily against the law

if an average film cost only �10 x that by millions ... no I suppose you are right ... it's not much is it? ... what's a few million quid?

if you are going to steal - don't try to justify your actions .... certainly not by assuming any of us have done something similar

look at the copyright - it's printed on the sleeve - you can't
(and I'm not sure I agree with that - backups are a day to day requirement)
but if you already own the film ... why do you need to download a copy? - a ripper does the job far quicker

I have now purchased 3 copies of Shrek now - mainly for my step daughter as the grand kids insist on playing it and they tend to be heavy handed and scratch it.

Should I just keep on buying them?

Should I back up my entire DVD collection (approximately 150 films) in case I scratch one of the DVDs and render it unplayable?

How about music? I have purchased in my lifetime a copy of certain Albums on vinyl, tape and cd. Should I now purchase it again if my cd gets scratched or unplayable?

I have Will & Grace collection on DVD - it is much easier for me to download a torrent of AVI files to put on my archos rather than ripping the DVD - as this tends to put it in one long file rather than individual files.

I have also downloaded a series called Boston Legal - a few weeks in advance of it being shown on Living TV (a paid for Sky channel which I subscribe to). You could argue that advertising is being lost out on - but since I record most things on Sky plus, I don't see the adverts anyway.

I don't know anyone that doesn't break the law at some point - be it speeding, parking on double yellow lines, cycling on a pavement, being drunk and disorderly in public or throwing a cigarette butt on the floor to name but a few. People have their own set of morals - and some people can justify what they do (I certainly feel able to).

This isn't an amazing new concept - I remember recording music from the radio onto tapes and borrowing videos from friends. Neither of these were the end of the music of film industry - just as downloading won't be.

as for the backup question ... I've already said I don't know where the moral lies - you have bought the right to play the film an unlimited number of times (but I do know where the law says it lies) ... I have a backup of every piece of software and game I've ever bought (copy protected or not) - I don't buy DVDs so I don't have that dilemma - but I know what I would do

and I haven't p1ssed, puked, smoked or cycled in public for many years

By that reckoning then it's perfectly ok for you to steal a car if you crash yours.... well you've paid for a car, why should you pay for another one if you damage it!

Keep advocating illegal downloading on a public website... it's not my door that will be broken in.
