my computer is not charging or recognising my mp3 player or digital camera. when i plug them via usb nothing happens! have checked on device manager and this says usbs are working, any ides/? Thanks in advance x

Not recognising them could be a software problem BUT if they won't charge then clearly the problem is with the port. When Windows says a device is working it should really preface that with "as far as I can tell".

Just as an example. The ports on the from of the computer are connected to the motherboard by cable. If the cable was damaged or disconnected, Windows would have no way of telling.
I like the idea of windows saying "as far as I can tell" :)

Similar idea to above, are you using the same cable to connect both devices, it may simply be a broken cable.

Scan you computer with Microsoft AutoPlay Repair Wizard
It will find defective Auto-play settings and fix all problem.
