USB card reader & SDHC problem

I have been using an SD card reader to transfer files between my desktop and laptop computers for some time with either a 2Gb SD card or an 8Gb SCHC card without problems - until recently.

My desktop machine has now started to object when I plug in the reader with the 8Gb SDHC card in it. It says new hardware detected and recognises it as a card reader but wants to install driver software. Even if I let it search for a driver it says it cannot find one and the card reader won't work.
However, if I use a 2Gb SD card, it works OK.

(Have tried different card readers with same result. Works OK with the laptop and used to work OK with the desktop.)

Can anyone suggest what's happening / gone wrong and/or offer a solution, please?

Go to the Device Manager and uninstall the USB Hub controller driver.
After that restart the computer once. See the link below

Smith. Are you the same person as JohnPol - who, fortunately, doesn't seem to be around advertising iyogi anymore.
Do NOT use the very expensive and very rubbish site smith is linking to.

It really is garbage.

Looking at the variations in posting styles, I suspect that in fact Smith and Johnpol are a whole team of posters, probably the entire staff of the iyogi mob
