i sold a pair of sunglasses, in perfect condition, brand new with tags and labels, on ebay. I sent it well packaged, cushioned etc, but not special delivery (this was offered to the buyer but not taken up).
I got this email on monday:
"The sunglasses (ebay item xxxxxxxxxx) arrived on friday. Both lenses are scratched around the bottom, and one of the arms is hanging off. I bought them for a xmas present, and obviously wouldn't dream of giving them now"
the person has perfect feedback, what should i do, ignore it (as i know they were ok when sent), refund them or tell them they should have requested special delivery?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Ask them to provide you with a photo of the glasses shown the damage, and also ask them for a description of any damage to the parcelling as you are going to go to the Royal Mail and take it up with them....also inform them at this point that they will have to then most likely post the glasses back to you for you to persue a claim with the mail......If they are trying it on then this should put off most chancers...If they have a genuine complaint then they will be happy enough to comply.
You could always just inform them that they did have the option of taking insured delivery and that the glasses were in perfect condition when they left you so you have no legal obligation to do anything.....This will most likely involve the swapping of negative feedback for both parties which you can then take up with eBay.
It really all depends how you see it....I would contact eBay for advice and see what they have to say on the buyer.....Good luck either way.
This sort of thing happened to me when I sold a PC on Ebay to a person in Northern Irelend who also had perfect feedback.
I had real problems getting this sorted and ended up losing the pc and also I had paid for postage etc. Ebay were crap and had no interest in sorting it out, all I can say is that its a lesson learned for me.
The guy in NI was obviously scamming me as he gave all sorts of excuses about why he could not prove damage etc.
