e-mail addresses

Please help a couple of oldies with the following. The grand daughter of a friend of ours told her that she had been able to find the e-mail address on line of her brother who she has not seen or heard from since they were separated 13 years ago when he was 2 years old.
Where did she go to find his e-mail address?
She also said that she had been able to chat on line with him. Is this using e-mails?

There is no email directory as such. Is it possible they found each other on FaceBook?

Gromit's right, sounds like its facebook or some similar site. you can chat in real time, not email, and some people have their email addresses on there. I caught up with a lot of old school friends that way.

Could have been on Friends Reunited, too.
Or Skype, MySpace, even YouTube.

I heard a similar story on the news but i can't remember the exact details but . . . two people had been separated (some how) and one found the other on facebook about 10 years later and they were re united.
