You can buy a caddy very cheaply and use that for your old hard drive, it will turn it in to an external hard drive that you can use with any computer. An easy way to access your data, and cheap extra hard drive space.

thanks but how do i transfer the data when i cant see my screen???
You take the hard drive out of the old laptop, put it in the caddy, and connect the caddy to your new laptop by USB port.
The link I gave explains it.

cool thanks
You have to open up the broken laptop and take the hard drive out of it. Then you put it in the caddy and connect the caddy to your new laptop. It then appears under My computer as a new drive.
If it's only the screen that's shot you can probably connect the laptop to an external monitor. You may need to toggle the appropriate FN + F(whichever key it is on your laptop) to see the display. Then use a USB drive or CDs/DVDs to transfer the data.

The remove drive and connect it externally method is probably quicker (especially if you're fairly confident with a screwdriver/how to find your files) but if you have access to a monitor you may find it easier/cheaper to go that way.
