toshiba tv

Six months ago I bought a Toshiba 32in LCD TV more exactly an AV55 series set. My problem is with the audio levels..The spec says the sound output is "main 10W + 10W" When watching a normal programme such as the news I need a volume level of 30-35. For a movie with quieter dialogue its up to 45-50 and if I want to really enjoy some belting music (with headphones) its up to 80 and its still not that loud. I would add that I have absolutely no problem with all the other audio devices TV, Radio,CD player etc in the house and there is nothing wrong with my hearing.Apart from getting rid of the TV (cant afford to replace it ) can anyone offer me any advice to improve the listening experience

But if your TV will not go loud enough then your only option is an external sound system for it, these can cost you anything from about 70 upto 10,000, or if you have a decent stereo in the same room you could just run the sound through that.

Just to add from what ChuckFickens has told you.
Go into TV Menu and see what settings your Toshiba sound levels/ sound enhancement your TV is set to.
I have various settings on my Sony such as 'Dolby Virtual', 'Dynamic' etc etc which you may well have as well.
Adjust these settings accordingly to give the best possible output to suit your needs.
I have a Home Theatre System connected to my TV which I use mainly for DVD viewing, and you may need to do what ChuckFickens suggests and buy a Home Theatre Systems in order to give you Surround Sound which you have not got at present.
For normal TV viewing do adjustments in Menu Sound settings
