I have a Belkin Wireless Access point F5D6130 and a Centrino laptop which connects to the internet via this method.

My PC has XP Pro and SP2, and the wireless connection is displayed as unsecure.

How do I make a security enabled connection, so that the WAP will only accept connections from my own PC and nothing else?

You have to enable some sort of encryption.  WEP should be ok.

I gathered that already, it's just that i don't quite understand how to do this. Any help would be appreciated.
You can set a filter on the Belkin router to only connect to your laptop's MAC address. This can be done with the Belkin Wireless Access Point manger which should have shipped with your router.

Sorry, just stating that out of all the encryption methods WEP will do what you want.  Look in the instruction manual for instructions. It is very easy to do, but hard to explain.  You need to tell your access point to generate WEP codes (Configured by connecting to the access point through a web browser using it's ip address).  Then put these codes into you pc's wireless network properties. No other machine will be able to use connection without you issuing these codes.

I think the problem is that the access point won't reset to the factory default settings and allow access using the default password.

If you can't access it then you are stuck.  Is it new?  Take it back if it won't reset to default settings.
