Phillips dvd recorder

I have a Phillips DVDR610 DVD Recorder and I am having trouble setting it up. I thought it would be as simple as a video recorder. Not so.No matter what way i connect scart leads it wont work properly. Ok for playing dvd but not recording.i have a Grundig Sky box (3 years old) and a hitachi tv (5 years old). Went to the bother of paying �30 for a composite scart lead to connect from sky box to dvdr, but still getting nowhere. Can somone help pelease????????????????????????????????

Scart leads transfer video signals both ways, so if you use all scart there shouldn't be any problems. Plug your sky box and your dvdr into your telly, set the telly to look at the sky box, set the dvdr to to plug via which it's connected to the telly and try recording.
