Help-Cannot connect

Using 3 mobile broadband, running xp. Since uninstalling Google Chrome I cannot connect anymore and keep getting the following message:
Web browser Application associated with connection '3 connect' failed to start. Please check your web browser application settings.
Hope you can help as my desk top is redundant presently and I am at the 'punch the screen' moment!
