Sk plus, How do I reformat/reset the hard drive?
3 Answers
My planner on my Sky plus box tells me there is only 25% disc space left on the hard drive. I have deleted all previously recorded programmes yet It wont go back to 100% free space.
Any ideas? Is there a handset code that can either enable me to reset or reformat the hard drive to get it back to 100% free disc space?

I reported a fault to Sky the other day and they sent me these instructions which I think will do what you want (note I have not done these myself so do at your own risk)

I am sorry to hear of the problems you have been experiencing with your services. To rectify these problems, please follow the procedure below:
Please note this process will stop all the recordings currently in progress and reboot your box, therefore you may want to do this after a recording has been completed.
Using the Sky Remote Control press the services button.
Using the up / down arrow buttons highlight System Setup and press select.
Press 0, 1 and select to access the Installer Menu.
Highlight Sky+ Planner Rebuild and press select.
When the warning on screen message, 'this will take a few minutes to completed' the rebuild will stop all recordings and reboot your Sky+. Press select to confirm or backup to cancel appears press select to continue.
The on screen message, 'Housekeeping please wait' will appear and take up to 2 minutes to clear.
Once complete the set top box will switch itself off and then back on automatically and wait in standby mode. Wait for 60 seconds after the red light has appeared before attempting to switch back on your box.

Many thanks it did the trick.
For information I will add that following the 0, 1, select, keystroke sequence there is no immediate response from the Sky plus box but if you wait it does eventually bring up the installer menu. I found this lack of feedback from the Sky plus box quite misleading.
Thanks again

This requires reboot of your Sky box by following below mentioned steps:-
-You have to either “switch off” or “unplug” your Sky box at the mains.
-Switch any other connected devices such as Tv to standby mode and then turn them “off” or “disconnect” them at the mains.
-Make sure that the “power light” on front of your Sky box is “off” . Also check other connected devices are powered “off”.
-Switch everything back “on” at the mains including your TV. The “red” power light on your Sky box will come back “on”.
-After three minutes, press “sky” button on your remote to switch “on” your Sky box. You’ll see a green light display on the front panel of your Sky box.
This will solve your problem. If still the problem is not okay, you can call Sky Customer Service here http:// www.qwi knumber s.com/s ky-cust omer-se rvices
