After one has gone to the trouble of answering one's technology questions, why do some not have the courtesy to answer back, to tell one if it has solved their problem?
aog I've spent hours trying to help some people in genealogy and received no thanks at all.............however, the ones that do thank you more than make up for this.
This is something that happens in all categories not just technology, I hope that I am not guilty of it, it does lack courtesy. But that is the way it goes and if being thanked is so important, then you need to think twice about answering. I have on occaision gone back to the thread and sarcastically thanked myself hopeing to prompt a response. I have decided to live with it. At the end of the day it is my choice whether to answer or not.

Yes we know all that, but it is not a matter of expecting an answer for one's own personal ego, but one likes to know if one has been of help to others.
In technology in particular, because it can also help others, when one is thinking of purchasing or even fixing a particular type of IT equipment for example.
it would be nice if some people responded to say if something worked or not, at least then anyone else who happens upon the question looking for answers themselves would know if a given answer worked or not!
I agree AOG, Ive lost count of the amount of posts of given an answer to only to have nothing in return, NOT a whisper, its just nice to know that you have been a help.
It doesn't ruin my day when people don't bother to thank me, but as Chuck says, it would be nice (and useful for others) to know if a reply was helpful.
And I do like the fact that even though AOG and I quite often trade insults over in News, when I answer his questions in Technology, he always take the trouble to post thanks.
Sometimes for one reason or another people cannot use their computer to answer.I always try to say thanks, though rojash might try saying something nice and non offensive to be thanked.... :-)
A few months ago somebody asked for three crossword answers and three of us gave seperate answers. The poster returned twice to thank the other two but ignored me. :-)
