AVG download ?

I've been advised I can download this for free to give my computer basic protection.
Is this correct?
Is it difficult to do (silver surfer technophobe standard)
Any side effects or things to look out for?

I used AVG free version for about 3 years without any problems. I have only recently changed to another free AV sortware (Avira) because I got a new laptop using Windows 7, and I had a few issues getting AVG to work with Windows 7. Below is a link you can download AVG.

When you go to the AVG Site read carefully and scroll down on each page to ensure you are downloading the Free Edition,
It is good and well worth installing.

I know people who have done this and it appears to be very effective. I had it a while ago and had to get rid of it, my outlook just would not work with it on. I could receive messages but not send them. Simply couldnt make it function, does anyone know why this would be.

I work in IT. its perfectly fine. been using it on my lappy for about two years. just make sure you download it from a trusted site. if you have any doubts then dont download it. ur computer is not worth that risk. - that goes for anything you download.
