I have a MP3 clip of a piece of music, but it only plays for about 40 seconds.

I have therefore made four identical files of the same clip.

How can I now join them together without the few seconds of silence between them.so that it will seem like one continuous track?

Download Audacity (it's free), make sure you point it at the lame.dll file as instructed (usually in Windows/system32 (or download it). Import the clip and copy/paste it the required amount of times, then "Export as mp3". Simples.
