help, i´ve lost my sound on my laptop!!

i have an emachines G520 laptop. was watching a film on it tonight, but my girlfriend said she wanted more volume, so fiddled around with it, and done something, but dont know what, and now have no volume
any advice! i seem to be going around in circles trying to find a solution

no i havent clicked on mute by mistake, and elvis, this doesnt have start programmes, assessories and entertainment and volume control

Switch it off. Switch it on again.

have you got the volume control icon down by the clock? and what version of windows is it?

hi chuckfickens, its a vista basic, and no the volume icon by the clock wasnt turned down. anyway i´ve got it sorted 4 now. popped into a small computer shop, as per usual i couldnt remember what he´d done, cuz of the speed he moved the cursor. but he´d rectified things in seconds. i now have another problem to resolve. every time i switch on the pc, i get this amplication. i dont remember asking for it, but i think i got it when i desperately trying to resolve my sound problem.
