DVD writer

High, i need a good DVD writing program to write a movie i have on hard disk to a dvd that i can watch in a dvd player.  Can any one suggest and good free ones online that i can download?  Also, how do i find out the specs of my DVD writer so i can properly use the program? Thanks,

roxio 6 and 7...free on kdrive,edonkey,abit illegal but hey?the specs r in your manual but 2 record 2 dvd from hard disk on average pc is 2x speed

i used ahead nero to record. It was quite good, but always had to use a slower speed even for music cds.
