if somebody calls you then you can not hang the call up.

if you hang the phone up and then pick it up again you will still be on the call until the person that makes the call hangs up.
Because only the person who makes a call can terminate it.

E.g. when taking a call in say the study instead of the front room, there's this weird notion that the person in the study needs to pick up their handset before the person in the front room puts theirs down - not true at all...

Oh OK! I guess it's just because in usual circumstances the person on the other end would then hang up too.

Aaargh! Just had another one with no message or person, been getting loads of these recently even though we got some thing that means sales people aren't allowed/supposed to ring us.
If you're referring to TPS, then it's next to useless...

I'm not sure what I'm referring to lol, it was something my dad signed up for a few years ago and it worked at first but over the years get more and more of these recorded messages/phonecalls with noone there!
Market research companies reckon they're exempt (since they're selling nout), people phoning from abroad ignore it too since it would be impossible to prosecute.

It's not those that bother me so much, it's these ones that are recorded and start with "Congratulations!" (I hang up after that!) and the ones with nothing at all that are most annoying!
I remember one woman complaining about her phone bill...........she hadn't replaced the receiver properly and had been connected to "Dial-A-Horoscope" all night.

Aww no craft! We have to hang up using the button so no problems there but that would be very annoying!
>and had been connected to "Dial-A-Horoscope" all night

It was probably saying "your next phone bill will be huge...."
Once you've asked them not to phone any more or they won't take no for an answer.

Look what your street's numbers go up to. If, say 149, then ask them if you could have an inhome demo and tell them you live at 251 ******street. If everyone did this they'll soon get the message.
TPS was good but as more and more people signed up the cold callers just approach from a different angle making their call legal.
