I have a problem. I have  borrowed a  friends  copy of Half Life 2 and  cant  use  it  as the cd key is already registered to him. Apart from the  obvious ie  buying my own copy is  there any way ar ound this ???

this game has set new standards to combat piracy and has used a method where in order to play it you must (in theory anyway) have the original game as the final stages of installation and the initial stages of playing thereafter are all done thru a service called 'steam' that verifies your copy.many more games developers are looking into doing something similar.

buy the original - its worth it !

There is a way of doing it.  you'll need to have a look for the Vengance Steam crack on Newsgroups or your favourite file sharing app.  I had a cracked copy and after spending 30 mins "cracking" it.  The game would just freeze in places so I just bought a real one from Amazon.
