XP has never been able to burn DVDs on it's own (only CDs)
you have always needed extra software.

Any error messages? Have you bought a batch of bad dvds? Can it burn cds?

It would help if you said what exactly you are trying to do here? are you trying to burn a data DVD, which is a DVD with computer files on it, or are you trying to burn a video DVD, as in a DVD you can put in a DVD player and watch a film?

If the latter, what are you trying to put onto the DVD?

I use "burn for free" software mainly coz I'm a cheapskate and I don't want to pay for anything but also because I hate with avengeance Nero.
