Apple Ipod

Help!! Ive got an Apple Ipod Shuffle which is great and had lots of music on it. I've accidentally un=synced (?) it from the Apple Web site and have subsequently lost all the music etc. I know it must be on the computer somewhere but cant find it. I think what happened was I tried to download a podcast direct from the BBC web site and its messed everything up. As a result of this I cant even put anything else on the ipod as it is not "synced" Can anyone help me please?
