Free sound recorder

I have for a long time had a free sound recorder which would record anything that was
on screen on the computer at the time and have up til now never had problems with,
Today I tried to record a couple of royalty free sound effects but now every time I click record a message appears saying ''AMC Drive error'' and will not record, what does that mean & how do I fix it?

You have a sound recorder buiklt in to your system. Go to accessories -- entertainment -- sound recorder.

Come off it chuckfickens you know perfectly well what I mean, for instance if I was looking at a music track on you tube or similar (though I would never record anything copyright) I could record the sound track.

Sorry Squarebear certainly not and I honestly value your kind answers, however I looked at what you suggested and it seemsthat it will ony record for up to 60 seconds and some of the effects I need are a tad longer.

audacity will do what you want (though I may be suggesting what you already have!)
