My Dell Vostro 1700 has never worked on battery alone. I have to have it plugged into the mains all the time for it to function. The battery indicator always shows fully charged. If I remove the mains the lap top remains functional for maybe 10 mins or so before it goes blank and a blue screen appears saying....."Hardware malfunction call your vendor for support the system has halted". I then have to turn the lap top off and restart all over. I can't take the lap top anywhere without plugging it in.......it's a pain to say the least.

hi wouldbegolfer, not sure about you posting your email and contact number on here.

i have a Dell laptop, i also get that same message 'Hardware malfunction....' i just restart it.
