Down load help

Hello ABers
I have just down loaded Fallout New Vegas onto my Sony Vaio VGN-FE 31M running XP. When i did the download it downloaded it to the lowest resolution and everything is great except that every few seconds i lose the screen and revert to my desk top. Can anyone throw any light on why this is happening?. I also have Fallout 3 on my comp but dont have issues with that.
